Review: At What Cost?

At What Cost? At What Cost? by Kathryn Sparrow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is powerful because you see that prejudice can come in all forms. That you can feel honor bound to your duty and hurt someone else. But when everyone opens up and communicates with each other often a solution that works for everyone can be found.

And Then He Said I'm Beautiful And Then He Said I'm Beautiful by Nallux

This is well written story with plenty of angst. Both men are forced to reevaluate their importance to each other. In the business of life they have almost let the best thing slip away.

Cam is mad at his father and it seems the world. He comes off as a bit of a spoiled brat. Anton has his own issues and drama. They seem to have a wild and crazy hookup that doesn't necessary end very well but their also seems to be the hint of something more and better coming their way.

A Hard Dazed Knight A Hard Dazed Knight by J.J. Cassidy
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a story with some humor and it was well written but I just never really got to care too much about these guys who seem to spend most of their time getting in their own way instead of admitting there was something there and going for it.

Review: Chase in Shadow

Chase in Shadow Chase in Shadow by Amy Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think it happened because I picked up book #2 as a freebie or on sale. And I picked up #4 when it came out. And missed books #1 and #3 in the Johnnie's series. So I am now going back and reading them. It didn't take away from enjoying this first book at all. All of the books in this series take you on an emotional roller coaster. But as Chase's story unfolds you see a great amount of pain much of it in some ways self-inflected. You see Chase as both a hero to love and a person to be angry with at the pain he causes others in trying to lie to himself. But all of the characters are strong people and they are willing to hang in their and fight for themselves and those they have come to care about.

Review: Kotori's Sacrifice

Kotori's Sacrifice Kotori's Sacrifice by Dakota Trace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Seba was hurt by his submissive's lack of letting go. I couldn't tell if it was because she was so closed off she couldn't share why or if he hadn't pushed enough. But through Madame Eve, Akari and Seba have a second chance to make it right. She more than he realizes just how much is at stake. Luckily they are both strong enough to go find the means to travel to the root of the problem so they both have a chance to soar together.

Review: Pirate's Revenge

Pirate's Revenge Pirate's Revenge by Rebecca Jacobs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finally dusting off this oldie from my TBR pile. This story is full of misunderstanding and wrong conclusions. Opal is young and naive in ways that are almost unbelievable given how she grew up. But you realize that while she is "untouched" she does know a lot about life. In the quest to confront her father she ends up in the wrong place which in the end turns out to be for the best in many ways. As Opal and Boone take on each other and the circumstances around them you can see that they are both strong and caring people they just need to decide what they truly want.

A Master and a Mommy A Master and a Mommy by Joelle Casteel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Master and Josephine have a great life and a great relationship but she is brave enough to ask for more. Andrew is strong enough to give her what she needs and craves without letting it be a threat to his position in her life. Mara is also a strong woman who knows how to demonstrate her own strengths without running over Andrew. I see a happy blended future for this special family.

This one was great because it took 2 couples that will all friends but had thought about being more to each other. Every man had the other one's best interests at heart. When bumps in the road show up everyone works to help make the way smooth. While their story is far from over you can see some good beginnings.

Review: One Ring

One Ring One Ring by Tymber Dalton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really love how in someways it feels like Amelia sort of gets drops in the deep end of the pool when she finds out what her friends have really been up too. And while this one also features two guys in Don and Carl their dynamic is completely different than in some of the other stories. They are not a couple and have no sexual interest in each other. But their strong friendship and life experience make them the perfect landing spot for Amelia as she starts her own kinky journey. The fact that they end up a family is a wonderful bonus.

Review: Continuing Education

Continuing Education Continuing Education by Gray Gardner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a well written story but you definitely need to read the first book before you read this one or you will be lost as to what is going on. I wanted to like this one more but it seemed that the main characters were less likable. Both Mary and Mait seem to be making the same mistakes that felt they should have been over by now. The actions of the family are even more upsetting and while Mait seems to be upset by what they do he really doesn't call them on it. At most he retreats and almost seems to pout instead of dealing with things head on. I'm not sure I believe that they will really have a truly happily ever after until they both come to better terms with the past and present family issues.

Review: Educated

Educated Educated by Gray Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a well written story with an interesting premise. But I often got frustrated at Professor Frasier because I felt like he needed to admit that he liked and wanted to spank Mary instead of just almost making stuff up for a reason to get her over his knee. Also, I felt he was too quick to jump to conclusions instead of getting the facts. I think both of these people have a great future together if they don't keep getting in the way of themselves by the choices that they make.

Review: Maid for a Lord

Maid for a Lord Maid for a Lord by Celeste Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an historical romance that is well written and really draws you in. You quickly get interested and involved with the characters and what happens to them matters. I like how both the Lord and the Maid have learned that assumptions don't hold try and how much you have or the title you are born with don't necessary having anything to do with your intelligence or worth as a person. I love how they showed the Phoebe only set aside her fears of taking Violet's place when she felt that Violet approved. And points to Phoebe for being able to have enough poise to pull it off.

Review: Moving a Little Heart

Moving a Little Heart Moving a Little Heart by Breanna Hayse
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Somehow I missed this one when it came out a few months ago but I love age-play especially Breanna's. I saw the ad for the sequel so I picked this one up to get read first. I wasn't disappointed at all. I love the way that all the new people in Baylor's life gently and lovingly bring her to a place where they can truly take care of her needs. As her relationship with Hayden and Jake develop they can also begin to explore her wants as well. And when misunderstanding almost rips them apart a someone new steps into Baylor's life to help knock sense into all of them. I appreciate that the men are willing to admit their mistakes and accept there responsibility in the problem as well. Very sweet and loving story of making up for a lot of bad years.

Review: Loving a Little Heart

Loving a Little Heart Loving a Little Heart by Breanna Hayse
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this sequel to Moving a Little Heart. There is less age-play in this one but we still get all the love and carrying that we were introduce to in the first story. I love a couple of the scenes in the story where some people really get what they deserve. We also meet more people to love Baylor. There is a lot of humor in this one as well. There is also a little surprise tucked into the end of the story which is a wonderful way to finish up the book as well.

Review: The Spy and His Boy

The Spy and His Boy The Spy and His Boy by Lyn Gala
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Not many mm historicals especially from this era surrounding World War 2. You can tell from the beginning the Jakob is a but trouble and has been through much before the first meeting. But you can also tell that Merle has feelings from the beginning. It seems almost doomed from the start. Much is asked of each of them and both show strength. As the story draws to a close you can feel both the anger and the anguish as the characters sort out the truth. Short but powerful story.

Review: Seeing is Believing

Seeing is Believing Seeing is Believing by Kimber Davis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Leslie is just trying to make a go of her cafe in the off seasons. Reed is trying to solve a drug crime. It bring them together and it might just break them apart. It was fun to watch Leslie trying to figure out the mystery for herself and to show her spirit. She's not the type to back down from a challenge. But Read is taken with her and he sure doesn't want her to get hurt. They have a lot to work out but it looks like they are headed down the path together.

Review: A Good Family Man

A Good Family Man A Good Family Man by Thianna Durston
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jack is retiring and things in his life are about to change in a big way. Josh is right there and you feel their connection. You have to admire Josh for not being willing to just settle but to hold out for what he really dreams and desires. Jack kind of runs at first but he has a lot of demons that having to spank his partner are really just a small part. I love that they each turn to friends that can reach out to them and tell them the truth straight up. This book was so much fun to read since it combined spanking and mm plus it takes place in the best fictional town ever. Can't wait to see what Season Four has in store.

Review: An Author's Angst

An Author's Angst An Author's Angst by Maggie Ryan

First it was fun to learn more about Venia who has been such a great secondary character in many of the Corbin's Bend books and learn her back story. But it was even more fun for her to find her own second chance. Jeffery is everything she needs and could ever want. This is such a special story and it is always fun to visit with the "older" folks as well.

It was so much to go back and see how the whole club came about. To see how some of the characters came together and how stories that we've read early in the series impacted the other club members at the time even if they were a big part of the earlier book. And make sure you bring tissues to your reading spot there will definitely be places where you will need them.
