Week 1 of 2023

Hard to believe it is another year.  I haven't yet worked out the statistics for 2022 but it is time for the first reviews for 2023.  Expect quite a bit more holiday stories because I didn't get as much reading time as I had wanted over my Christmas break.  Going into the new year I'm am scheduling reading time every day.

A Little Christmas: TeddyA Little Christmas: Teddy by Aster Rae
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I love the sweet idea of the story as a retelling of the Little Princess story which was a childhood favorite. But there were just somethings that took a whole of suspension of belief in the modern age. Also, some things were brought up in the beginning of the book that didn't seem to have a resolution. I was happy for Teddy to have his HEA and I think Chester does care so it got 3 stars.

View all my reviews Heal (White House Men #7)Heal by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have enjoyed this whole series so much. It has been a great mix of romance and intrigue. It is well written and draws you in a brings you along. I love the mostly soft story of everyone figuring out what is next in their lives.. But there is some really tough moments to close out the story.
I listened to the audio version and enjoyed it very much.

View all my reviews A Silver Fox for KinkmasA Silver Fox for Kinkmas by Colette Davison

I love how Barney is so sure about what he doesn't want yet he is drawn to Magnus. He keeps breaking his own rules. You can see there relationship developing. I love how Magnus is willing to let go even when he is hurt. I love the discussion that Kasper and Barney have in the car. This a sweet story of finding what you aren't looking for.

View all my reviews A Little Christmas: TerrenceA Little Christmas: Terrence by J.P. Sayle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love the fact that Warren has been interested in Terrance for a long time and vis versa. It isn't just a whim and it makes the way the relationship develop seem appropriate. There are parts of the story that have your heart breaking for Terrance and the hardships he is facing. I really love how this story ends. It was a great holiday read.

View all my reviews A Little Christmas: TimmyA Little Christmas: Timmy by Kaytea Kat
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love how Timothy is an accomplished and responsible person who feels overwhelmed by his work life. I love the fact that a slip of a few seconds leads Art to respond to his deepish wish. From there there story develops quickly but it is a fun a happy ending to a fun way to meet.

Week 51 - 52

And now we come to the end of another great year of reading.

A Little Christmas: BlakeA Little Christmas: Blake by Wendy Rathbone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I like how this story starts with just a hint of friendship between Blake and Eliot. There is something that just clicks between the two of them. It was interesting to see that Eliot doesn't push and even makes sure Blake's private space seems safe. Another fun Christmas read.

Ethan seems to live a charmed life but he is living without something he really wanted/needed for his life. Lyon also has needs he fills are out of reach. I love how they really just fit together. The final chapter of the story is such a great way of seeing the happiness.

View all my reviews A Little Christmas: FinnA Little Christmas: Finn by A.W. Scott

I love how Finn in doing his best to take care of himself but life is just knocking him down. He seems to be at such a low moment and then there is Bell like he stepped out of the coloring book. I love how caring Bellamy is. I also love his own family. This is a sweet story of two people finding what they weren't even looking for. I made a playlist from the list of songs the author had a the beginning of the story and enjoyed listening to it on my walk while reading the book.

This two seem like they would not be a good match. Indeed they have people telling them how they don't suit. But sometimes a connection doesn't follow logic. I love how these two just work despite all the the things seeming to point them in different directions.

 November

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love this story and the way their relationship develops. It starts with some misunderstanding and gets better from there. There were so many moments when things that I just wanted to cheer when things made a turn around for Sterling. The ending of this story was perfect.

View all my reviews The Nerd Jock Conundrum (College Boys of New Haven #1)The Nerd Jock Conundrum by Hayden Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think what makes this story from others in this trope is that both main characters need to come out in their own ways. Both Troy and Jackson have to be there for the other one. We see them reevaluating everything throughout the story. I was very happy with the conclusion of the story.
I listened to audio version of this story and enjoyed it very much.

View all my reviews Dashing & DaddyDashing & Daddy by Gianni Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story turns many preconceived ideas upside down. Mason is struggling but it isn't for want of being better he just lacks the direction and help. He is at his core an artistic and caring person. Dillion despite his age is driven, successful, and a care giver. They just fit so well together and the history doesn't stop the connection from growing. This story had me cheering both of them but especially Mason on.

This story reflects a lot of new beginnings and the way it moves there relationship forward as well. The flow of this story is so much fun. I listened to the audio version and the switching of the narrators really helped you to stay in the moment of the characters. I love how both main characters find both their person and their best life. It also reflects on how the way you see life can effect your interaction with others but also highlight that if your thinking isn't really working for you a new way of thinking is possible. I also love how Greta heading back to Maine help Truman get Truman's new life forward as well. Won't tell what it is but the kick-a** moment on the way to the airport was so perfect.

Wow, I wasn't expected so many wonderful feels. Pro tip have some tissues available. There are so many wonderful moments and so many things to work through to work forward. It also doesn't sugar coat the idea be an ex-con comes with both emotional and practical problems that must be worked for. The award for most improved character goes to Adam's dad. Also although you don't really meet her until near the end I really like the way Nate's wife reacts to Donnie. This story was such a wonderful read.

Weeks 43-45

I listened to an anthology and ready an anthology so I didn't have much to report for about a week and a half.  Next I spent a weekend attending the Shameless Book Convention so I wasn't on my computer.  Then we had another hurricane that thankful didn't effect us to much but it was a distraction.  So time to get caught up.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Review - This was such a fun collection of stories. Loved all the guys from Sunnydale office. I listened to the audio version and really enjoyed it.

1 - Dog Days of Summer - Beau, Patrick - I love these two and how they just connect with each other without knowing who they are. You also get to see that Beau has to figure things out. Glad that things worked out for them.
2 - Like Cats and Dogs - Ronan, Oliver - This story has the familiar enemies to lovers trope. There was such a quick connection but it works so well for the characters.
3 - Cat's Got My Tongue - River and Weston. - Your past really does have an effect on your present and in this story we see how bullying in the past has an impact on both the bully and the one who was bullied. I liked the way this story develops and how both of these men have to really think about what they see going forward.
4 - Cat and Mouse - Zayden, Elliott - There is humor in the this story when life gets out of hand a little lie blows up. It was great to see these two give each other a chance and find a way to move forward.
5 - Horse of a Different Color - Kohen, Archer - I loved the sweetness between these two and was so glad Archer got a story. There are moments in this story that caused some tears but the ending is perfect for these two men.
6 - When the Cat's Away - Andre, Jude - This was a great second chance romance. I love the way these two really reconnect but they have to figure things out so they can move forward. This was a really sweet new beginning.
7 - Barking Up the Right Tree - Jett, Korbin - This story is really a great rom-com where a relationship gets started only to find out there is an unexpected connections. Of course the reader sees how things are going so it just adds to the fun.

I love the outcome of this story but getting there was a bit of an up and down experience. There were lots of misunderstandings during the story. And Luna's insecurities don't always get address before a meltdown. But overall it is cute story and I look forward to the new series.

I was almost reluctant to read this book because I love the way that the first book Rescued turned out. I was almost afraid to see that fall apart. But I'm glad I gave it a go.
