Review: Hummingbird House

Hummingbird House
Hummingbird House by Kenzie Cade

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think this has been my favorite so far this year. Also, it's a bit longer than the other selections so far. To see the struggle to come to terms with loss and to find courage to forgive. Wonderful story that shows all the ways you can have love and family in your life.

Review: Clockwork Christmas

Clockwork Christmas
Clockwork Christmas by Sidney Swann

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Great holiday story with lots of fun steampuck elements. I love how strong personalities and people who are not afraid to do what they need to help each other out and even pay the price for riding to the rescue.

Review: Sleigh Ride

Sleigh Ride
Sleigh Ride by Heidi Cullinan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Paul decides it's time for more and he move away from Arthur. We get to see that both men are hurt by this decision but that given some time both of them can see that it really was for the best and that they are really suited for friendship not relationship. But Arthur is still sure he isn't made for dating so his dating of Gabriel gets everyone talking. They really don't seem to a good match but somehow it works. What I also appreciate is that while there is a lot of story about the romance there is also so much more in the rich telling of the backdrop of their small town and how they each make their own unique mark on the people in their lives. Hope Paul get's his happy next year.

Review: Taming Tessa

Taming Tessa
Taming Tessa by Vanessa Vale

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is town with it's own rules for married life but even girls growing up in town don't always know what goes on behind closed doors. Tessa has been treated in ways that have turned her into a real pain. But Cole seems to be able to see the real Tessa. I love how he is willing to bend and adjust some of his ideas about married life when he can see what Tessa has faced. He truly cares about her and this story turns out to be so much sweeter than I expected when I started reading it.

Review: Lessons for Lexi

Lessons for Lexi
Lessons for Lexi by Charlene McSuede

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lexi is a young woman who seems bent on self-destruction. She has been through a lot and seems to have backed herself into a corner. JT ends up coming to her rescue without even knowing it. I love how there is humor mixed in the story. In the end the whole thing gets straightened out and Lexi gets what she needs. In this book even the side characters are rich and add so much to the whole telling of this great story.
