Review: A Family Found

A Family Found
A Family Found by Nicole Dennis

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a powerful story with some really big twists thrown in. There are strong emotions displayed by all the characters involved. I really loved how the boy Theo is really included in the rest of the story. I think to say anything else would give away to much of the story. I can't wait to read more in this series.

Torsten Schloss
Torsten Schloss by KA Halle

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For such a despot that Lord Dominick turns out to have a lot of honorable intentions. While his activities are wild and promiscuous everyone seems to be there of their own free will and enjoying the activities. What I really couldn't figure out was just what the prince's motives were for getting involved first seeming to help bring the Lord and Krystiana together and then seeming to work to part them. For all the darkness and debotury going on this turns out to be a really sweet love story.

Another Weekend in the Country
Another Weekend in the Country by Sheila Conway

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I bounced around between giving this a 3 or a 4 and ended up going ahead and giving it a 4. I think what I felt was lacking was a sense of relationship between the characters. Their activities seems to be so much on the surface. Maybe a better understanding if her dream man and Daddy were the same or not perhaps.

A Man of Dreams A Woman of Passion
A Man of Dreams A Woman of Passion by Rebecca Jacobs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is well written and is a good length. The 4 star rating come because for me I felt that at times Jacob who stress being consistent and honest sometimes wasn't. He could be very harsh and wasn't always good at listening. I almost gave it a 3 but despite it all you could tell that despite it all Caroline really loved him and he at times showed that he loved her. I thought sometimes the circumstances had already provide some of the punishment and Jacob could have toned it down just a bit.

A very interesting story. Paul seems to be such a jerk at first that you want to hate him but as the story develops you ready to cry for him. Adam is a strong character to be able to first move forward and then to be willing to open up again.

The Maze
The Maze by Breanna Hayse

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story is quite different from what I normally read and I'll admit that at first it was hard for me to keep track of the the "rules" of this world and the characters but as the story progressed I was drawn into the lives of all the characters and looked forward to seeing how they could all "win". There were some surprises along the way that added to the enjoyment of the story and surprisingly enough you felt that a real relationship was formed and I'm a sucker for the relationship.

An Old-Fashioned Man by Laylah Roberts

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ava has been through a lot in her life and really has no concept of family and relying on others. Heath is drawn to her almost immediately but it takes a lot to get close and even more work to stay there. I love the patience Heath shows in overcoming the hurt in Ava's life. Great story of a man strong enough to give his love.

Julia is afraid of the marriage that is about to forced on her so she takes off hoping to get to other family members that might help. She is rescued by Bronson who she takes a liking to only to discover he is her intended. While this is a familiar plot line this story is fresh and interesting. From the beginning Bronson is is drawn to her and feels protective of her. He puts himself at risk to stand up for her and try to protect from even the king. Julia despite everything remains strong as well.

Review: Daddy's Girl

Daddy's Girl
Daddy's Girl by Darla Phelps

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an endearing story of a young woman who knows what she needs and is trying to find a way to find her place. The ending of the story was emotional. I really appreciated that "Daddy" felt as strongly as his "baby girl". Knowing that they had been corresponding for a while made the strong emotions seem believable. While age-play is certainly a part of the relationship I think that the story really focused on the relationship itself.

Our December by Diane Adams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a romantic tale of a first love that lasts. I really liked the story and the characters it was fun to see them look back and reflect on the beginnings of their love and romance. The most moving scene for me was was when Frank comes to Jared. Overall impression was of a man (Jared) who had the strength and integrity to do the right thing.

Uncle Charles' Girls
Uncle Charles' Girls by Anne Randolph

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is pretty harsh and there were parts that I found made me feel a bit squeamish since the story involves non-consensual punishment. But despite the harshness of the story it is accurate to the period. Also, both of the young ladies did seem to have quite the attitude and needed a bit of adjustment to the realties of their circumstances.

Angel's Redemption
Angel's Redemption by Andi Anderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Andi Anderson takes what could be a dark and depressing story and instead makes it about light, hope, and love. While Jackson seems to what to care and watch out for Elijah you see that Elijah has his own strength and can be there for Jackson just as much. I also like that the recovery Elijah experience happens before and during his new relationship and his healing is for his own benefit and not dependent on anyone else. It is this very healing that makes his new relationship all the sweeter.

The Lonely Dominant by Ella Jade

Alec and Clara inter a relationship that at first meets some of their needs. Through the story the needs turn further into wants and from there into love. This is a sweet story that even though it includes BDSM elements there is really nothing harsh or jarring. I felt that the roughest scene was something that she really led Alex into completing and it turned out to be a real turning point for both of them.

Blood from a Stone
Blood from a Stone by Carolyn Faulkner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brandon is all caught up in past hurt from catching his cheating parent his obsession leads him to Elizabeth and the desire to pay her back for her parent's mistake. Elizabeth is very innocent and is also dealing with her own baggage from action of her parent's action even though she does not understand everything. At first I really wanted to paint Brandon as the total bad guy and not like him at all but as the story progress and you find that his actions really seem to surprise the two people that know the whole story and as more of the the whole story comes out and he becomes more vulnerable. By the end you believe the development of a real relationship between the two of them.

Uncovering the Past
Uncovering the Past by Melinda Barron

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the other stories of the spanking club so I was curious how this modern tale would work out. I loved Naomi and Lord Gavin. I like the fact that it didn't use a ghost as a device in the story yet you felt Gabby's spirit in the reading of the journal and the feeling Naomi got using Gabby's room and desk. Lord Gavin definitely didn't fall from the his great-grandfather's tree. The idea that Lord Gavin had found the diaries himself and had already restarted the spanking club. Wondering if we will see more from the new generation since no one else in the club is in a committed relationship yet.

I felt for Jillian so much. She knows what she craves and has a good understanding of her needs. She tries to find a safe way to meet this need and it blows up in her face. Her sister tries to help but I can practically backs her sister into the corner. Then when things seem to be going well Jillian lets all that old baggage push her over the edge and almost destroys her own life. I can relate to her feelings because baggage is hard to overcome.

This stories portray strong feelings. It seems at first that the King is severe but when you consider how Gideon has been surviving it treatment doesn't seem out of line. I enjoyed this book for several reasons. Our families spends a lot of time visiting historic parks and homes and we find it frustrating when there are glaring inaccuracies so I can relate to Mr. Ellis and his wanting it to be just right. Also, I could relate to Lucy's feelings when Warren takes to her son having had a child from a first marriage love and accepted right away by my husband. The story is well written and a lot of fun to read.

I loved the part about where the friends become lovers. I thought the trick to get them together was a bit mean but everyone was willing. Not sure about their pay back scene. I thought it was a bit much considering some of the decisions they had already made and that lowered the rating a bit.

I loved this sweet story. Poor Sam is at the end of her rope and when John's mistake gives her a break she takes it. Sam tries to take advantage and it sure doesn't turn out like she expected but you come away with feeling that things turn out right. I loved that even when she was really messing up she felt guilty and John's reaction really helps her come to turns with a lot of upset she's been carrying around. The reactions of the other characters also seem natural and add to the story.

A Teacher's Dispatch from Japan
A Teacher's Dispatch from Japan by Alice Liddell

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The description of this book is accurate so I knew what I was getting. I usually like the more romantic stories but sometimes I like the edgier stuff and have like other Alice Liddell books but this one just didn't do it for me. For some reason I think the almost "glee" the punishment was given and viewed was a bit much. Also, I think the fact that the students were younger was a bit harder as well. The story is well written and it was interesting to have a book with illustrations so I will give it a 3 star rating.

This was such an interesting story because it wasn't just a time travel tale but a returning to a different place and time that felt right and natural. The story of Eden and her redeveloping relationship with James was intense and full of action. And the ending wow. This book is a bit longer, the parts with Eden's training can be intense, the feelings are deep, and over all very enjoyable.

Time Out: The Game Plan, Book Two by Breanna Hayse

I loved Game Plan and I loved this one as well. I loved seeing the relationships continue to develop. There is more healing that takes place and the whole family becomes more open. Like the first book the characters feel real and you have a sense of real caring going on. I've really come to care about this family and hope to see more. I think Pop needs to find someone special to fill his empty nest.

Zach has been thrown away. Ben is drawn immediately to Zach but he is a caring man who doesn't want to mess things up or cause more hurt to Zach. It was neat to see Zach heal and thrive as well as take charge of the relationship too. It is great to see a character overcome so much. I saw this recommended during a recent blog tour and I'm glad I took a chance on it.

This is a beautiful story and is filled with so much love and caring. I loved that this was not a young lady who didn't grow up with care and discipline but a young lady that was raised with love and care. And I won't give anything away but the ending was so special and brought a tear to my eye. This is a very special book.

Bared to You
Bared to You by Sylvia Day

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really have mixed feelings about this book. It came highly recommended by people who's opinions I trust. I knew going in that was the first book of the series and the story would end incomplete. I also had not read 50 Shades or watch Twilight for that matter so I didn't come in with those preconceived ideas either. Since I had it on my wish list and it came up on the Erotica group Book of the Month I figured I would give it a try. It was intense and I actually had to stop and read something else a couple of times. It was well written but it just seem to end in such a rough place. There seems to be so much damage and so much on going hurt that I just had trouble enjoying the book. Not sure yet if I'll tackle the next one or not.
