Review: Marriage Contract: Rules of Order Book One

Marriage Contract: Rules of Order Book One
Marriage Contract: Rules of Order Book One by Jade Alanson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first started reading this story I wasn't so sure about it because Sean seemed a bit severe and unbending but as the story begins to unfold my opinion changed. As you get to know Bridget you realize she is making really destructive choices and has not been helped in more conventional methods. She responds well to Sean's brand of help and you have to admire a man who is willing to put in the hard work and not just walk away from a new marriage when the truth is revealed. You can also see that Bridget is on the way to making better choices and getting stronger by the end as well.

Very interesting set up. Casper keeps feeling someone touching him and he's determined to figure out who it is. Things start to heat up and suddenly he's afraid that its a cruel joke from some bullies and yet he is drawn to his stalker. I like how this plays out and how there isn't an easy resolution to the confusion.

Shooter and Ellen have been fussing at one another for a while but first he has a dream about her and then he finds her on a dating site. He decided that he needs to protect her. Things just get really mixed up from there. I like how both of them just sort of fell into their feelings for each other. Fun story.

Two Old-Fashioned Men by Laylah Roberts

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cam and Kent are brothers and have shared a woman before. Kent has felt a bit more burnt and figures he'll step back for Cam. Bryony shows up in a storm. They are both drawn to her and she is drawn to them but she feels so bad about herself she can't believe they would really want her. I love how the brothers really fit well with each other to give Bryony what she needed. You could feel how much they loved and cared both for each other and for Bryony. I hope this family will have another installment because the little bit with Frankie seemed like a teaser.

Review: Above the Dungeon

Above the Dungeon
Above the Dungeon by SM Johnson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I won this book as a prize in the MM Romance birthday party. Wow, this story is so hot. Jeff has been with Roman for a long time but he loves to fall in love but suddenly Roman has noticed someone else. Dare has run away from his life and is being drawn into this new life. I loved how you really got into both Jeff and Dare's head to see the story from the both the perspective of someone who has lived the lifestyle and someone who doesn't have a clue but seems drawn to the lifestyle. Roman is so much of both men's world but you realize how they are part of his as well. My favorite quote that illustrates this point is found on p127(on my nook)Jeff is thinking, "Surely I created Roman the Master as effectively as he created Jeff the slave, through my ability and willingness to be transparent, to share with hime my darkest desires, holding nothing back."

Review: Taken by Force

Taken by Force
Taken by Force by Carolyn Faulkner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book consists of two stories with a similar them but with two very different outcomes. So I will give some thoughts on the separate stories. The 4 star rating is a composite.

The first is Born to be Bred, by Carolyn Faulkner. I give this one 3 stars. I love Faulkner stuff but for some reason this story didn't grab me like her works usually do. Maybe it part it comes from just finishing "Against Her Will" that had a very powerful punch or that this was really a short read. This one just seemed to be a bit flat. You really didn't get the motivation of the main evil doctor and you also didn't get as much into the lady's head as much as some of the other stories.

The second is Breeding the Virgin Goddess, by Korey Mae Johnson. I would give this one 5 star rating and it alone is worth the purchase of this book. This story while also short really gives you a feeling of building relationships despite the forced situation. I found the characters to be interesting and having personality.

This story is such a wonderful wrap up to the series. It is a strong and powerful story that doesn't sugar coat the reality of great physical and mental suffering. I found myself wiping my eyes more than once getting through this story. It affirms the fact that life comes with joys and sorrows.

I guess the very things that many reviews found difficult I found endearing. I think it celebrates what makes us different and lets us have fun with misunderstandings. I like the possibility of love and each still figuring each other out. I also like not just the two main characters but the complete supporting cast as well. Everyone is a big and larger then life but was a part of this book's charm. I look forward to reading more. Thanks Cherie for your contribution.

Ally and Jake: An Ageplay Story
Ally and Jake: An Ageplay Story by Laylah Roberts

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Both Jake and Ally come from previous age-play relationships that didn't end well but for very different reasons. You realize how strong Ally is in so many ways to seek what she needs despite her fears. Jake is strong and caring is truly wants Ally to get what ever helps she needs even if he's not the one to provide it. I like how the story has a happy ending but you can feel that this relationship is still not all it can be and they are still a work in progress. Would love to see more of Ally and Jake.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What's worse then coming back and facing the ghosts that were your high school years. Having to do that when your worst enemy turns out to be the guy in charge. The story is good but I felt the ending was just a bit rushed not sure I could forgive and forget quite that fast.

Serendipity Ranch
Serendipity Ranch by Breanna Hayse

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Serena is a brat and from the moment she crosses Preston's path they seem to be on a collision course. I really like how Preston was patient and caring without being patronizing. He really cared about giving people a chance and a true respect for women and their talent. This story finds a great balance between adult love and feeding the needy inner child. Preston shows that you can be in charge without being overbearing and rewards effort without expecting perfection. Very sweet romance.

Review: Against Her Will

Against Her Will
Against Her Will by Carolyn Faulkner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sometimes its interesting to dip into something that is a bit darker than your normal read. Cassandra is really a bitch and treats those around her as inferior no matter what their station but she is especially true of her slave. So you almost cheer at the ironic twist of fate that lands her a situation that is the same yet different. This story is well written and draws you in "against your will".

The Charles Smith Method by Carole Archer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story turned out much different then I expected but it was very, very good. Jenny is really down to her last chance to get her life together and Charles offers exactly what she needs to pull it together. There seems to be jealously at first with his housekeeper but that chances through the story in a big way.

Burned
Burned by Eliza Gayle

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruby has been obsessed with fire and she's drawn to submission but she's in big denial about that even when watching Zane the Dom playing with fire. This seems like a pretty normal story set up but this story adds a few elements that make it unique. Ruby comes from a lifestyle family and she knows she's not like her mom so she's having a hard time realizing that she can be submissive but on a totally different level. Also, her fascination with fire had led her to change from firefighter to investigator for her own safety. It is interesting to watch her battle with herself to figure out what she needs and that its okay to want it.

It was interesting to see how different in many ways Deuce is from his on the ranch family and yet he retains so much of the same family values. Review: Return to Pebblesville

Return to Pebblesville
Return to Pebblesville by Tabitha Black

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's hard to image a whole age-play based society but its fun to take a peak. I like how this story pointed out that just like in any society there are those who show true love and affection and those who will take advantage of their authority. This story also allows you to see that the women don't just accept their life without some struggles to understand. While I admired how David worked to change one husband's mind about how to treat his wife I thought the method was a bit unkind to Sara and that's where the 4 star rating comes from.

Eye on the Ball by Shelley Munro

While this is well written story I didn't seem to connect with the characters as much as I like to. It seemed like so much of their interactions were forced not on the other guy but that they were forcing themselves. The ending seemed a bit abrupt as well but that could be because of the short length of the book.

This story is powerful and disturbing. The most disturbing thing is that it seems to totally real and possible. It hurts to think how many of are smartest young people are having to put themselves at risk to try and obtain their dreams and how condemned by others they must feel. This story has lots of dark and painful issues I'm so thankful that Conner was willing to put his feelings first not just in acceptance but to be willing be patient and not give up on love.

They end up crash landing and find the men they have been waiting for have had to raise themselves and have a lot to learn. Starla ends up with Leo and while it's rough at first they turn out to be well suited for each other. The men are an interesting mix because they are strong and capable of survival despite having no education. The fantasy element is fun and enhances the story.
