Week 20

Rabi and MatthewRabi and Matthew by L.A. Witt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story is very intense. There is so much action and hard moments to get through. Even though I was sure it would all be okay there are some really tense moments in the story. Sometimes the person who comes through isn't the one you were expecting which continue to keep you on your toes.
I listened to the audio version and I think it made it seem even more dramatic.

I love the way fate has brought these men back together after all these years. I was so glad when Jace really understood why Linc did what he did in the past. I also love the honest look at the issues Linc is having. I'm really excited about starting this new series. I can't wait to start out the next book in the series.
I listened to the audio version and it was very well done.

I like the way that Reid is respectful of Maddie and is always ready to check in with her. Both begin by agree this is a week long event but of course things shift between them. I really also like how Reid doesn't down play Maddie's feeling and is willing to work out with her the best ways to proceed as they move forward together. This was a sweet story of love changing everything.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While I enjoyed the book for the most part it wasn't my favorite in this series. I felt at times Finn was a bit harsh. At the end of the book I found out that there was other stories of the start of their relationship so maybe it might have seem more natural if I had read those books. I feel like Conn was good at this job but the fact that he would take someone with him to Rawhide Ranch without making sure she understood what to expect seemed out of character to how he was being portrayed especially since he knew Trish's plans. I think the parts of the story that made it enjoyable is the friendship the regulars give to Trish and their willingness to help out a new friend. I also like the way that Derek handled the situation both seeing the potential fall out to the ranch but understanding what had Trish so upset in the first place. So points to Derek and the ranch gang and a some missteps by Finn and Conn in the care of the women they care about.

I love the dramatic way these two met, got separated, and were reunited. These two have so many twists and turns. Thankful rescue this time is swift. I appreciate how Bo can be the tiger he is without having to be something he's not. There is wonderful balance in his relationship with Red. I have enjoyed this series and love the tie in with Hunter's Creek. I can't wait to see what happens in the final book of this series.

The Last Summer Vacation (Frat Brats of Santa Barbara #0.5)The Last Summer Vacation by Hayden Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a sweet young adult love story. These two young men both have feelings for their best friend but they don't want to mess up their friendship. You get to see them decide what to do. There is a wonderful surprise at the end of the story and the launch to a new series.

My kids introduced me to Randy's amazing You Tube videos. When I was looking for something non-fiction for the Amazon Spring Challenge I decided to check this out. Randy tells his own story which makes it a great listen. This book is full of humor, some name dropping, and family drama. There are moments of seriousness as well. I already enjoyed the You Tube videos and I think after listening to the this book I will appreciate them even more now that I know how much works goes into creating them.

These two men seem like an unlikely pair giving their feelings about relationships. Yet thrown together unexpectedly there seems to be a bit of feelings in the air. I love the fact that while they connect in some way right away the real building of the relationship takes time. You feel yourself cheering Calder on as you works to prove himself to Felix. And the girls a wonderful bonus to the story.
I listened to audio version. The use of two narrators makes for an unique experience.

The drama in this installment if very intense. You can tell that Jax is hiding something but you can tell that he isn't the bad guy. I love the surprising connection that join him and Rylie as well. There are so many layers to this story and I don't want to give anything away. Just know that this story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I listened to the audio version and it was well done.

Week 18

Friends (White House Men #2)Friends by Nora Phoenix
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seth and Coulson just fit together. Their minds work in similar ways and it helps them develop their relationship quickly. Coulson seems to be ready to accept himself. It doesn't feel unrealistic but more about someone being self aware and ready to look at his life in different ways. I also like how both men are honest with their supervisors and not willing to be ashamed of themselves or their relationship.
I listened to the audio version and loved it very much.

What a wonderful introduction to a new series. Quinn Ward is a new author for me and I will be reading more of their books in the future. I look forward to more in this series. The story starts with a bittersweet prologue. As the story starts you realize there might not have been a better way for things to go at the time. I was so happy that each of them communicate and give each other a chance.

Week 17

Never Say Never (Lost in New York, #3)Never Say Never by Felice Stevens
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved the background of the story. What's not to love about two men who hate each other on paper then meet. It makes it even more interesting because they don't know who the other one is. But even better than this fun idea there is a lot meat to the story. Frisco has a lot of things he has been dealing with over the years. Torre too can sometimes get moved along by circumstances. I was drawn in from the beginning.
I listened to the audio version and it was very well done. I also love getting the full bonus material included with it.

My heart went out to Timothy from the beginning. He was really overcoming some trama. I also love that Jackson is so patient and is so very careful to protect Timothy's self choice. This story starts with a misunderstanding that makes perfect sense given the situation. I love the bit of humor as Noah does nothing but keep getting hurt when Zander is near by. Of course this all leads up to the first real meet up. I love the outcome of this story. I also love the peek at other friends from other series.

The Real Deal - KM Neuhold - Palm Island #0.5

4 out of 5 stars

This is the prequel to a new series.
This was a fun story of two people who had a past but needed another go at it. They are at the same place at the same time an it just work for them. I like how Flynn and Real's lives outside of vacation can also work out. Great way to start a summer.
