Review: Fade to Black

Fade to Black
Fade to Black by Scarlet Blackwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We return to Brandon and Finn. They seem to be working things out and getting it together when suddenly a case seems to become something even more than was thought. Brandon has to deal with the realization of just how much Finn suffered before he came into Brandon's life. I love how we can see Finn come into his own in this story and I just wanted to stand up and cheer.

Micah owns his own vineyard and heads off to the convention for his week alone. Liam is loaded but he is escaping. Micah is drawn to Liam but he's not ready to just jump into anything either. Just as it seems to come together it really falls all apart. I like the fact that the story doesn't just make things easy. Liam really has shit he needs to deal with and isn't in a position to give Micah what he needs. It was interesting to see Liam stretch and grow.

Review: Loving Lucia

Loving Lucia
Loving Lucia by Renee Rose

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a historical spanking romance and one of the things that struck me is that this one seem to much harsh then many of the other historical especially from the opening of the story. Marco though does seem to hold a part of himself apart. While they share with Celia it is not a true triad relationship. This story has a different feel and sometimes I felt that it was shifting or morphing but in the end it really was a love story.

Dr. Grayson Burrows wants to help children. Dr. James Pearson wants to find the next great cure. As the story unfolds you realize that they have similar hardships in different ways growing up but they seemed to have made really different conclusions in their life in how to handle it. The emotions that play in this story are very powerful. It was amazing to watch the growth of both me in the story. The dramatic turn was interesting but I think the story would have worked just as well without.

Review: Gabe's Alpha

Gabe's Alpha
Gabe's Alpha by Shannon West

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Personally, I think this series just gets better and better. This time we are with another branch of the pack so we get to met a new set of characters. Gabe is attacked and his mother killed. He is confused about what his happening to his body but he is smart enough to protect others. Zack is immediately drawn to him and helps him to figure out what is happening and what can be done to help. This time the danger to the pack turns out to be from within instead of from the outside. Also, we again get to see strong men taking responsibility for themselves even as they submit.

Holt and Kaelyn have been dating a while but Holt is into spanking and Kaelyn seems completely resistant. Madison convinces her to at least give it a try since its important to Holt. I liked this installment in the series more than the first story. I think this is because Holt has the interest first and isn't being manipulated into taking this kind of lead in the relationship. We also get to see Kaelyn's own battle with herself which seemed very real and natural.

Review: A Little Harmless Lie

A Little Harmless Lie
A Little Harmless Lie by Melissa Schroeder

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story focuses on Dee and Micah. We are drawn into the story in the prologue. There is lots of action and drama. But this story seemed to have less sex but it really fit with the story line. Also, the emotional journey that occurs for some many of those involved in the story line really pulls at you. I had to stop a few times and play a round of solitaire on my nook before I could go back to reading. The depth of the emotions and how they played out in the characters took me by surprise at times. This is a great addition to the Harmless series.

The story of Alex and Jared continue. Alex is finally an adult and while he still has more schooling Jared allows more contact. There are several surprises and drama in this installment but this just helps you to see the love and commitment between not just Alex and Jared but their friends as well. And once again I'm impressed with how great Alex's dad Jared is.

Dave is a top, through and through. He's known Marshall for a while but he suddenly makes his move. Marshall's a big strong firefighter and doesn't think he can or needs to submit. But Dave has really feelings for his big, tough guy and is very loving and patient. He very slowly introduces new things and doesn't need a lot of things that would freaky Marshall out. The relationship is very strong, very clear, and comes first in this story.

Lucy has brought trouble on herself from making poor choices but Edward's solution proves to be harsh and non-consequential. Although, the situations are somewhat squeamish yet it was a very hot story. The only thing I didn't like was that the story seemed to have a very abrupt end I'm curious what will happen next in their lives.

Review: Out of the Dungeon

Out of the Dungeon
Out of the Dungeon by SM Johnson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'll start out by saying the Out of the Dungeon is really very different from the first book in the series. Usually, when a series seems to really deviate from the first book I'm disappointed BUT NOT THIS TIME. This story is focused much more on the emotions and feelings of the characters. This book focus more on Roman but we do get some insight into the other characters as well. There are also lots of twists and turns in this story but you really get to see the process of deciding what is important in a relationship the way you live your kink or the person themselves. This books is very deep and draws you into the characters lives. I'd really love to see one book that sort of wraps things up and lets us know where all the soul searching finally leads.

The Charles Smith Academy by Carole Archer

We are back with Charles and his girls Jenny and Hazel. I didn't enjoy this story as much as the first one. I think that both Hazel and Charles over react to Jenny's try for independence and much of the hurt could have been avoided by everyone involved including the judge sitting down and having an honest and open discussion. The finally chapter is very moving and really helped redeemed the story for me.
