Ever since my mother started reading me a "Bird's Christmas Carol" every year at Christmas during my childhood I have never taken for the granted that a sick main character will have a happy ending. So I started this book with no expected outcome. This is a sweet but tear provoking story. To watch Marcus who seems to have it all struggle to learn to live again and to see him grow and give after his encounter with Trevor is the stuff Christmas classics are made of.
